Heat Map/Hot Spots are used to collect information from respondents of their reactions to an image. For example, you might have an advertisement or any image that you are looking to gain feedback on. You can allow your respondents to click on areas of the image and drop markers (Hot Spots Markers) to identify their points of interest.
You can also allow them to add optional comments for each of the markers they drop. Markers can be edited by the respondent and deleted if they have placed a marker at the wrong location.
Validations can be enabled to ensure that respondents complete the question and/or enter a specific minimum or maximum number of markers.
You can produce a Summary Response Report to export all images with their markers included. You can also see each marker on individual responses.
The Analysis Overview will show the Heat Map of all responses with intensified heat for those areas with more points.
Heat Map/Hot Spot Example
You might want your respondents to identify, on a diagram of a concert venue, the location they would most likely sit during a concert.
1. Create a Heat Map/Hot Spot Question and select an image to use as the Heat Map/Hot Spot image. Choose how many Hot Spots (Markers) the respondent can enter and whether they need to complete a response at all. You can also adjust navigation text for the Hot Spot marker process and appropriate validation messages.
2. When a response is undertaken the respondent is presented with the image that was uploaded, with the ability to drop a marker.
Validations will ensure that only the correct number of markers are dropped. If enabled, comments can be added to any marker. If the respondent drops a marker at a wrong location, they can click the marker and choose to remove it, place a new marker at the correct location.
If comments are enabled, respondents will be able to add/edit the comment to any point.
3. When a response is viewed the markers are overlaid on the image.
Comments will be shown to the right of the image, for any question where comments are enabled. Clicking a marker will allow you to see the comment or you can hover and click the comment in order to see its placement on the image.
4. When you review the Analysis -> Overview for the question you will be presented with a Heat Map of the combined points, with intense heat around those clusters where more markers appear than at other locations.
You can download the Heat Map by clicking the "Download Heat Map" button.
5. This image can then be shared or inserted into other documents, such as presentations or executive summaries.
6. A response summary report can be produced with each response showing the image with an markers clearly shown. Any comments will also be shown on the summary below the image.
