Slider Matrix Question Type

The Slider Matrix provides an alternative for matrix-style questions where you are asking someone to provide a rating. No longer are you restricted to "boring" radio buttons. This new question type is available to all our users on professional accounts or above.

Rating Statements Question Type

Yet another way to show those pesky matrix questions! Show respondents one statement at a time, rather than the entire matrix. It ensures they are focused, and more engaged by the questions being asked. The content in the rating boxes can include images.

Multi-selection Card Sort Question Type

Card sorts could be created in previous releases. The standard card sort has now been extended into a second question type - the multi-selection card sort.

New Portal Overview Charts

There are now two new charts available in the Overview section under the Analysis tab. These charts are also available in external portals that are provided to clients. The first chart shows the breakdown of completed responses in a survey by device type - mobile, tablet or standard (PC etc.).
Device Type Chart

The second chart shows how long it took people to complete the survey (in minutes). This is a cumulative chart, so in the example below we can read the chart as saying "after 20 minutes, a total of 320 people had completed the survey".

Alerts System

The "Alerts System" is actually just one part of the new Event API that allows "stuff" to happen after a survey is complete. So, what sort of "stuff" is possible? Pretty much anything you want with the right setup. The easiest thing that can be set up, however, is alerts via Email. For example, if a customer provides a particularly damning score for satisfaction in their survey, you could have someone immediately Emailed with the respondent's details so that they can be called to get to the bottom of their problems. SMS Alerts could also be set up if you have a provider that accepts requests in the form of a URL.

Respondent Export

Respondents can now be exported out of Web Survey Creator. This is particularly useful if you have built up your list of respondents in WSC, and you want to take them to another system.

Integration with Contact Profiler

Contact Profiler is a panel management application that many users have used in the past with WSC. We have now added full integration between the two products. Full details can be found in Chapter 4 of the latest Market Research Manual for WSC.

Respondent Import

The respondent import capabilities of Web Survey Creator have been redeveloped to make importing a simpler process that works much more easily with respondent tags, and allows you to "pre-fill" a survey response with any number of additional details for a respondent - effectively providing unlimited custom fields for respondents.
Respondent Import

Respondent Tag Piping

Respondent tags can now be used for more than just filtering - they can be piped directly into your surveys just like any other data piping details. The format of these piped pieces of data looks as follows:

Page Button Hiding

You've always had the option of hiding the previous button on your surveys. We have now enhanced this so you can decide whether or not to show page buttons on a page-by-page basis..
Page Hiding

Flow Disabling

If you have a survey flow that you want to suspend but not remove, you can now disable flows as needed. Why would you ever want to do this? The most common reason is to allow a flow to be tested in isolation, but disabling all other flows that might also hide a particular page.
Flow Disabling

Enhanced Drafts Browse

The capabilities of the drafts browse have been enhanced primarily so that it is easier to find the drafts you may want to change into "real" responses. Filter based upon percentage complete (this percentage is effectively last page completed / total pages) and click to edit the draft. Note that the most reliable way to make drafts into real responses is to edit and complete them (this ensures things such as alerts are correctly triggered).

Enhanced Slider Validation

For people who do not like the "Click to Activate" message on sliders, there is now another way to ensure people answer sliders. Set the slider from 0 to 10 (for example) and set a range validation of 1 to 10 on the slider. Therefore people have to move the slider from zero for it to be acceptable.

Enhanced Excel Export Options

Excel exporting options have been enhanced - including the ability to now only export a single line header. This makes it easier to build pivot tables, and use Excels autofilter capabilities.
